Faith and family, before photos

A Spouz profile starts with deen, then family, background and what you hope for in a marriage, so you can tell whether you’re compatible before photos come into it.

Deen
Sect, madhab, how you practise, how often you pray, and diet
Family
Family type and values, brothers and sisters, and ethnicity
Background
Education, work, income band, languages, nationality and where you’re from
Marriage
When you hope to marry, children and previous marriages, whether you’d relocate, and how you’d like to live

How halal matchmaking works

From your first profile to your first salaam.

  1. Create your profile

Four short sections about you, your family, your work and your hopes for marriage, then two to six photos of yourself.

  2. Get reviewed

Take a quick selfie that only our review team sees. A member of the team checks it against your photos and reviews your profile, usually within a few hours.

  3. Discover

Meet one member at a time, nearest first, filtered by age, distance, sect, madhab and how they practise.

  4. Express interest

You have 10 interests a day, so each one is considered. They can accept or decline, and nobody can message you before that.

  5. It’s a match

Blurred photos clear, you each see the other’s guardian details, and chat opens. Say salaam.

Private until it’s mutual

Blurred photos, messages and guardian details all wait until you both say yes.

  • Photos blurred until you match

Sisters can turn on blur. Members they haven’t matched with only ever receive a blurred copy; the clear photo isn’t sent to them at all.

  • No messages from strangers

Chat opens only once both of you have accepted.

  • Your wali, not your number

Spouz never asks for your phone number. When you match, you each see the other’s guardian details instead.

  • Your pin stays yours

Others see your city and roughly how far away you are, never the spot you pinned.

Real people, reviewed by real people

Nobody can send an interest or a message until a member of our team has approved their profile.

  • A selfie check

Every member takes a selfie that our team compares with their photos. It’s never shown on their profile.

  • Verified means reviewed

The badge on a profile means a person on our team approved it.

  • Adults only

Spouz is for people aged 18 and over. The app won’t accept a younger date of birth.

  • Report and block

From any profile or chat. Reports are anonymous, and a reported member can’t see or contact you again.

Profile under review

A member of our team reviews every profile before it goes live. This usually takes a few hours.

  1. Profile submitted (done)
  2. Human review (in progress)
  3. Decision

Questions

Anything else? Email us at spouz.support@gmail.com.

Is Spouz a dating app?

No. Spouz is for Muslims who want to marry. There’s no swiping and no casual chat: you can message someone only after you both accept, and every match shares each side’s guardian details.

Is Spouz halal?

Spouz is built around Islamic etiquette for seeking a spouse. Your wali is part of every match, sisters can keep their photos blurred until they match, nobody can message you unless you both accept, and a person reviews every profile.

Is Spouz a rishta app?

Yes. Spouz is for finding a rishta for marriage. You choose the age, distance, sect, madhab and practice you’re looking for, and once you both accept, your families can take it from there.

Can my parents make a profile for me?

No. Your profile, photos and selfie must be your own, and our team checks your selfie against your photos. Your family comes in when you match: you each see the other’s guardian (wali) details.

Is Spouz free?

Yes. Everything you need to find a spouse is free. Spouz Premium is optional: unlimited interests, your 50 most recent profile viewers, and advanced filters.

Who can see my photos?

Members who come across your profile in Discover. If you’ve turned on blur, they only get a blurred copy until you match. Your selfie is seen only by our review team.

When is my wali’s contact shared?

Only when you match. You see their guardian’s details and they see yours. Nobody you haven’t matched with ever sees them.

Why only 10 interests a day?

So that every interest is considered. Sending an interest uses one of your 10, accepting one never does, and they’re back the next day.

How long does review take?

Usually a few hours. You can browse Discover while you wait, and send interests once your profile is approved.

Is there an iPhone app?

Not yet. Spouz is on Android today, and the iPhone app is coming soon.

How do I delete my account?

In the app, open Profile, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account. Deletion is immediate and permanent. More about deleting your account
